Body-protected areas in South Australia

In South Australia, electrical work is certified on an electronic certificate of compliance (eCoC). It must be certified before the installation is made available for energisation, then submitted and given to you within 30 days.

What to do as the practice

  • Tell your electrician which rooms are patient areas and how each will be used.
  • Get the eCoC and the AS/NZS 3003 test results at handover.
  • Book the retest within 12 months, and before any alterations.

Testing, everywhere

AS/NZS 3003 requires routine inspection and testing of body-protected areas at intervals not exceeding 12 months. The date of the last test goes on the label at the door.
