Body-protected areas in Northern Territory

In the Northern Territory, under the Electrical Safety Act 2022, a certificate of compliance is required for electrical work, certifying it was tested to be safe and complies, and NT WorkSafe must be sent a copy.

What to do as the practice

  • Tell your electrician which rooms are patient areas and how each will be used.
  • Get the certificate of compliance and the AS/NZS 3003 test results.
  • Book the retest within 12 months, and before any alterations.

Testing, everywhere

AS/NZS 3003 requires routine inspection and testing of body-protected areas at intervals not exceeding 12 months. The date of the last test goes on the label at the door.
